Le Mans 1999
These photographs were taken during a trip from Redditch, England to Le Mans in France in June 1999 for the 24 hour race. The GT40 was road worthy but not totally complete: it was still in grey gel-coat and some details such as light covers were missing. It was only the second long trip that the car had done, and the first since a complete engine rebuild. The trip covered around 1000 miles, and the car performed well apart from a recurring need to clean the points: something was probably amiss in the ignition system.
